Well it turns out July is watercolour month, who knew? I’m a bit late to the party but decided to have a go.
There are so many ways to watercolour using ink rather than paint. Previously I’ve used a water painter to create backgrounds and colour in, but this time I wanted to stamp.
I added ink from an ink pad to a large acrylic block then used a spritzer to add some water. Then I used that acrylic block surface to ink up my stamp. The wetter it is, the less defined the image will be.
First I added the Tahitian Tide splatter, then the Parakeet Party leaves. I didn’t let the ink dry between colours, I wanted a certain amount of bleed to add to the watercolour effect. Next was the flower and bud solid stamps in Polished Pink and finally the flower and bud outline stamps in Gorgeous Grape.
I even inked up my sentiment (Charming Sentiments) the same way.
I’ve used some Metallic Woven Ribbon to add texture and carefully separated the strands before looping it and sticking it to the back of my die cut sentiment.
The strands needed a bit of a trim after being added to the card.
This is a very different style of card for me, generally I go for clean lines, crisp images and careful colouring but all the same, I am really pleased with how it turned out.
