A crowd of gnomes

My card for this month's Casually Crafting Design Team challenge features a collection of mischievous looking gnomes.

We have a tic tac toe challenge, I chose the top line - Christmas, Technique, Square.

My card is 6 x6 square and I used square layers in Soft Succulent and Calypso Coral, the technique I'm featuring here is masking.

Stampin' Up! now have sheets of masking paper which I've heard is very good, however I don't have any so used post it notes which work perfectly well. I stamped the gnomes and fussy cut them ready to use them to mask off the areas I didn't want to over stamp.

So with my tower of gnomes stamped, I continued to mask off to add colour to the background. I used the large circle from Watercolor Shapes and stamped in Daffodil Delight to create a moon. I then masked off the moon and added blue tones to the sky and a little Crumb Cake to the ground.

If any white outlines show, it is quite easy to cover it up with a touch of colour from a Stampin' Blend in the same or slightly lighter colour.

The gnomes have all been coloured with Stampin' Blends. I've used a good selection of greens and browns as well as Calypso Coral, Petal Pink, Pale Papaya, Balmy Blue and Smoky Slate.

Each beard has had some streaks of colour added in either Light Smoky Slate, Light or Dark Crumb Cake.

The sentiment is stamped in Evening Evergreen onto a simple strip of white card the same width as the stamped layer. Lastly I added some Fine Sparkle Gems.

I wonder what the other design team members have created for this challenge, you can check them out by clicking on the links below.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the items used here, you will find product links below. Please use this months host code and if your order is over £30 you will get a hand made thank you card and small gift from me.

Thanks for looking,
